1. About One-to-One Coaching
Angling Performance provides personalised fitness and performance coaching designed around the physical demands of angling and the individual goals of the client.
Coaching normally begins with an initial consultation to understand your objectives, training history and relevant circumstances.
A movement screening may then be undertaken to help identify relevant muscular imbalances, movement limitations or other areas that may influence the design of your training programme.
2. How Coaching Is Provided
One-to-one coaching is primarily provided remotely through services such as FaceTime or Zoom.
Where a client is located sufficiently close to Angling Performance, in-person coaching may be available at the client’s home or another mutually agreed suitable location.
Availability of in-person coaching is not guaranteed and will be agreed individually with the client.
3. Initial Consultation and Assessment
Before personalised training begins, Angling Performance will discuss your goals and relevant training requirements with you.
The assessment process may include:
- An initial consultation
- Discussion of your training and angling goals
- PAR-Q health screening
- Relevant health and injury information
- Movement screening
- Assessment of relevant muscular or postural imbalances
- Height, weight and activity information where appropriate
- Body measurements where relevant and agreed
The information gathered will be used to help determine an appropriate approach to your coaching and training.
4. Health Screening and PAR-Q
A PAR-Q or appropriate health-screening questionnaire must be completed before training commences.
You are responsible for answering all health-screening questions honestly and providing relevant information concerning medical conditions, injuries, medication or other circumstances that may affect your ability to exercise safely.
If your answers identify a potential concern, Angling Performance may require appropriate medical clearance before training can begin or continue.
Angling Performance reserves the right to postpone or decline particular training activities where there are reasonable concerns about whether they are appropriate without further medical advice.
5. Changes to Your Health
You must inform Angling Performance of any material change to your health or physical condition during the coaching relationship.
This includes new injuries, medical conditions, significant symptoms, changes to relevant medication or medical advice that may affect your ability to train safely.
Your training may be adjusted, temporarily suspended or subject to further medical clearance where appropriate.
6. Personalised Training
Your training will be developed according to your individual goals, assessment results and circumstances.
The number and frequency of sessions required may vary between clients and will be discussed as part of the coaching arrangement.
A typical recommendation may be two one-hour training sessions per week, although the actual frequency will depend upon the individual programme agreed with you.
7. Session Length
Standard one-to-one coaching sessions normally last approximately one hour.
Any materially different session arrangement will be discussed and agreed with the client.
8. Reviews and Programme Adjustments
Clients will be continually reviewed and assessed throughout their coaching programme.
Exercises, resistance, sets, repetitions, progression and other aspects of training may be adjusted where appropriate based upon progress, performance and individual circumstances.
Relevant body measurements may normally be reviewed approximately once per month to help monitor progression where the client has agreed to these measurements being taken.
9. Minimum Coaching Commitment
Unless a different arrangement has been specifically agreed in advance, one-to-one coaching has a minimum initial commitment of three months.
After the initial three-month period, coaching will continue on a monthly basis until cancelled in accordance with these terms.
The price and payment schedule applicable to your individual coaching arrangement will be confirmed before coaching begins.
10. Payment
One-to-one coaching will normally be paid through an agreed recurring payment arrangement, including Direct Debit where applicable.
Alternative payment arrangements may be agreed individually where appropriate.
You are responsible for ensuring that payments are made when due and that any payment information required for a recurring arrangement remains valid.
11. Cancelling the Coaching Agreement
Following the minimum initial commitment period, clients wishing to end their ongoing one-to-one coaching arrangement must provide one month’s notice.
Notice should be provided directly to Angling Performance using the agreed contact method.
Payments falling due during an applicable notice period remain payable unless otherwise agreed or required by law.
12. Cancelling or Rearranging a Session
If you are unable to attend an agreed coaching session, you should notify Angling Performance as soon as reasonably possible.
If a client cancels a session with less than 24 hours’ notice, that session will normally be treated as used and will not be carried forward or refunded.
Where at least 24 hours’ notice is provided, Angling Performance will make reasonable efforts to rearrange the session to a mutually convenient time, subject to availability.
13. If Angling Performance Cancels a Session
If Angling Performance needs to cancel or rearrange an agreed coaching session, the session will be rescheduled for the next mutually convenient date and time.
A session cancelled by Angling Performance will not be treated as a session used by the client.
14. Illness, Injury and Medical Suspension
If you become injured, unwell or medically unable to continue training, you should notify Angling Performance as soon as possible.
Where appropriate, coaching and recurring payments may be paused until you are reasonably fit to resume training.
Angling Performance may request appropriate medical clearance before training recommences where the nature of an illness, injury or medical condition makes this reasonably necessary.
Any pause will be considered according to the circumstances and agreed with the client.
15. Missed Sessions
If you fail to attend an agreed session without providing appropriate notice, the session will normally be treated as used.
Repeated missed sessions may affect the progress and effectiveness of your programme and do not automatically entitle you to additional replacement sessions.
16. Coaching Clients Aged Under 18
Angling Performance one-to-one coaching is available from the age of 12 years, subject to suitability.
Clients under the age of 18 will require appropriate involvement and consent from a parent or legal guardian before coaching begins.
A parent or guardian may also be required to provide or approve relevant health information, payment arrangements and participation in assessments.
Additional safeguarding arrangements may apply to remote or in-person coaching involving clients under the age of 18.
17. Client Responsibilities
To help Angling Performance provide appropriate coaching, you agree to:
- Provide accurate and relevant health information
- Inform Angling Performance of material changes to your health or physical condition
- Follow reasonable training and safety instructions
- Train within your capabilities
- Use appropriate and safe equipment
- Ensure your training environment is reasonably safe
- Attend agreed sessions on time
- Communicate any concerns about exercises or your programme
- Seek medical advice where reasonably required
18. Remote Coaching
When participating in coaching remotely, you are responsible for ensuring that you have sufficient space to perform the agreed exercises safely.
You should ensure that equipment is appropriately positioned and in suitable condition before beginning a session.
Camera positioning should, where reasonably possible, allow Angling Performance to observe relevant movements during remote coaching.
You should immediately tell Nigel if you experience pain, discomfort or another problem during a remote session.
19. In-Person Coaching
Where coaching takes place in person, the location and arrangements will be agreed between Angling Performance and the client.
Clients must disclose any relevant hazards, access issues or other circumstances affecting a location where Angling Performance has agreed to provide coaching.
Angling Performance may decline to provide or continue a session where the environment is reasonably considered unsafe or unsuitable for the planned activity.
20. Body Measurements
Where relevant to your goals and agreed with you, body measurements may be taken to help monitor progress.
Measurements may include areas such as the chest and back, arms, waist, hips or glutes, and legs.
Measurements will only be taken where appropriate and with the client’s agreement.
For clients under 18, appropriate parent or guardian consent and safeguarding arrangements will apply.
21. Progress Photographs and Videos
Progress photographs or videos will only be taken with your agreement.
Agreeing to photographs or videos being taken for private progress monitoring does not give Angling Performance permission to publish or use them for marketing.
Any public or promotional use of a client’s photographs, videos, results or testimonials requires separate and specific permission.
You may decline progress photography or video without this preventing you from receiving coaching unless the particular recording is genuinely necessary for an agreed assessment purpose.
22. Nutrition Guidance
Where nutritional guidance forms part of your coaching, it will be provided in the context of your training, performance and agreed goals.
Nutritional guidance does not constitute medical diagnosis or treatment and is not a substitute for specialist medical or dietetic advice where this is required.
You must inform Angling Performance of relevant allergies, intolerances, medical conditions or professionally prescribed dietary requirements where they may affect the guidance being provided.
23. Exercise Risk
Physical exercise carries inherent risks and individual responses to exercise vary.
Although Angling Performance will take reasonable care when assessing, designing and delivering coaching, no exercise programme can be guaranteed to be entirely free from risk.
You should immediately report unusual pain, dizziness, significant shortness of breath or other symptoms that cause concern and stop exercising where appropriate.
24. Results
Angling Performance does not guarantee a particular fitness, strength, body composition, movement or angling-performance outcome.
Results vary between individuals and may be affected by factors including starting condition, consistency, nutrition, recovery, lifestyle, health, adherence to the programme and circumstances outside the control of Angling Performance.
25. Medical Advice
Angling Performance coaching is not a substitute for medical diagnosis, treatment or advice from an appropriately qualified healthcare professional.
Where a medical issue falls outside the scope of Angling Performance coaching, you may be advised to seek appropriate professional assessment or treatment.
26. Personal Information and Health Data
Providing personalised coaching requires Angling Performance to process personal information and may require the processing of health information.
Health information receives additional protection under UK data protection law.
Information about how your personal information, health screening, assessments, coaching records and progress information are collected, used and protected is provided in the Angling Performance Privacy Policy.
27. Confidentiality
Personal information disclosed during coaching will be handled appropriately and in accordance with the Angling Performance Privacy Policy.
Information will not normally be disclosed to another person unless this is necessary to provide the service, you have authorised the disclosure, or there is an appropriate legal or safeguarding reason for doing so.
28. Ending Coaching by Angling Performance
Angling Performance may end or suspend a coaching relationship where there is a significant safety concern, repeated non-payment, abusive or inappropriate behaviour, serious or repeated breaches of these terms, or another substantial reason that makes continuation of the coaching relationship unreasonable.
Any outstanding sessions, payments or refunds will be considered according to the circumstances and applicable consumer rights.
29. Limitation of Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
Angling Performance will not be responsible for injury or loss caused by deliberately withholding relevant health information, disregarding reasonable safety instructions, exercising contrary to medical advice, using unsafe equipment or knowingly training in an unsafe environment, except to the extent that responsibility cannot legally be excluded.
Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
30. Changes to Your Coaching Arrangement
Your individual programme may be adjusted as your fitness, ability, goals or circumstances change.
Material changes to the commercial terms of your coaching arrangement, such as the agreed price or frequency of paid sessions, will be communicated and agreed as appropriate.
31. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
If you are a consumer, you retain any mandatory rights provided by the laws applicable where you live.
