Health & Fitness Disclaimer

Last updated: 3 September 2026

This Health & Fitness Disclaimer applies to fitness, exercise, performance and nutritional information provided by Nigel Shipp, trading as Angling Performance, including information provided through the Angling Performance website, online training programme and one-to-one coaching services.

Angling Performance provides fitness and performance training developed around the physical demands associated with angling. The information and services provided are intended to support appropriate physical preparation and performance but are not a substitute for individual medical diagnosis or treatment.

1. General Fitness and Training Information

Fitness and training information provided by Angling Performance is intended for educational, training and performance purposes.

Every individual has different physical abilities, training histories, medical circumstances and responses to exercise. An exercise, training method or progression that is appropriate for one person may not be appropriate for another.

General information provided on the Angling Performance website or through membership content should not be interpreted as an individual medical assessment or personalised recommendation unless it has specifically been provided to you as part of an agreed one-to-one coaching service.

2. Medical Advice

Angling Performance does not provide medical diagnosis or treatment.

Information provided by Angling Performance should not replace advice, diagnosis or treatment provided by an appropriately qualified doctor, physiotherapist, dietitian or other healthcare professional.

If you have concerns about your health, an existing medical condition, an injury or your ability to exercise safely, you should seek appropriate professional advice before beginning or changing a training programme.

3. Health Screening for One-to-One Coaching

Clients undertaking personalised one-to-one coaching with Angling Performance are required to complete a Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PAR-Q) or other appropriate health screening before personalised training begins.

This requirement does not apply to standard members accessing the general Angling Performance online training programme through Skool.

One-to-one coaching clients are responsible for providing complete and accurate information when completing their health screening.

This may include relevant information concerning:

  • Existing medical conditions
  • Current or previous injuries
  • Pain or movement limitations
  • Relevant medication
  • Previous medical advice concerning exercise
  • Other circumstances that could reasonably affect their ability to train safely

If a one-to-one coaching client’s responses identify a potential concern, Angling Performance may require appropriate medical clearance before personalised training begins or continues.

4. Medical Clearance

Where a one-to-one coaching client is asked by Angling Performance to obtain medical clearance, the relevant personalised training should not begin or continue until that clearance has been obtained.

For members of the general online training programme, it is the member’s responsibility to seek appropriate medical advice before participating if they have an existing medical condition, injury, relevant medication, previous medical advice restricting exercise, or another reason to be concerned about their ability to exercise safely.

Receiving medical clearance does not remove all risks associated with exercise and does not guarantee that injury or illness will not occur.

5. Changes to Your Health

You are responsible for taking account of changes to your health or physical condition while participating in Angling Performance training.

One-to-one coaching clients should inform Angling Performance about relevant changes that may affect their personalised training, including new injuries, medical conditions, significant symptoms, changes to relevant medication or medical advice.

Online programme members should stop or modify their participation as appropriate and seek professional medical advice if a change in their health raises concerns about whether they can continue exercising safely.

6. Risks Associated With Exercise

Physical exercise carries inherent risks. These may include muscular soreness, strains, sprains, falls, aggravation of existing conditions and other injuries.

More serious health events can also occur during physical activity, particularly where an individual has an underlying or previously unidentified medical condition.

Angling Performance takes reasonable steps to provide appropriate training guidance, but it is not possible to remove every risk associated with physical exercise.

7. Exercising Safely

You are responsible for exercising within your capabilities and following reasonable instructions provided as part of your programme or coaching.

You should:

  • Use appropriate and safe exercise equipment
  • Ensure you have sufficient space to perform exercises safely
  • Follow instructions concerning technique and progression
  • Avoid deliberately progressing beyond your current capability
  • Stop an exercise if you experience unusual or concerning symptoms
  • Seek appropriate professional advice where necessary

8. Pain and Concerning Symptoms

Some muscular fatigue or soreness can occur as a normal consequence of exercise. However, you should not ignore symptoms that are unusual, severe or concerning.

You should stop exercising and seek appropriate medical attention where necessary if you experience symptoms such as significant or unexplained pain, chest pain, fainting, severe dizziness, unusual shortness of breath or other symptoms that cause concern.

If you believe you are experiencing a medical emergency, seek emergency medical assistance rather than relying upon Angling Performance for advice.

9. Muscular Imbalances and Movement

Angling Performance may provide information concerning muscular imbalances, movement patterns and the physical demands associated with match angling.

Discussion of a muscular imbalance, postural characteristic or movement limitation does not constitute a medical diagnosis.

Where symptoms or movement problems indicate that specialist assessment may be appropriate, you may be advised to consult a physiotherapist, doctor or other appropriately qualified healthcare professional.

10. Online Training Programme

The Angling Performance online training programme is available to members aged 16 and over and is structured into progressive phases designed to prepare members for increasingly demanding training.

Members should follow the intended progression and should not deliberately bypass earlier stages simply to access more advanced exercises.

Standard membership does not include an individual health assessment, movement screening or a personally designed training programme.

Members are responsible for considering whether they are physically able to participate and for seeking appropriate professional medical advice where they have concerns about exercising safely.

11. Remote One-to-One Coaching

Where one-to-one coaching is provided remotely through services such as FaceTime or Zoom, there are practical limitations compared with being physically present in the same location.

You are responsible for ensuring that your training environment is suitable, that equipment is safe and that you have adequate space to perform the agreed exercises.

You should immediately tell Nigel about pain, discomfort, dizziness or another concern arising during a remote coaching session.

12. Nutritional Guidance

Angling Performance may provide nutritional and energy guidance in support of fitness, training, recovery and angling-performance goals.

For personalised one-to-one coaching, this may take account of information such as age, sex, height, weight, activity level and individual goals where appropriate.

Nutritional guidance provided by Angling Performance is not intended to diagnose, treat or manage disease or another medical condition.

Where you require medical nutrition therapy or specialist dietary advice because of a medical condition, you should seek advice from an appropriately qualified healthcare professional or dietitian.

13. Allergies, Intolerances and Dietary Requirements

You are responsible for considering any relevant food allergies, intolerances, medically prescribed diets or other dietary circumstances when following general nutritional information provided by Angling Performance.

One-to-one coaching clients should inform Angling Performance of relevant allergies, intolerances or dietary circumstances where these may affect personalised nutritional guidance.

You remain responsible for checking ingredients and determining whether foods or products are suitable for your individual circumstances.

14. Individual Results

Angling Performance does not guarantee any particular improvement in fitness, strength, movement, body composition, health or angling performance.

Individual results can vary significantly and may depend upon factors including:

  • Starting fitness and physical condition
  • Training history
  • Consistency
  • Adherence to the programme
  • Nutrition
  • Sleep and recovery
  • Lifestyle
  • Age
  • Health and injury status
  • Individual physiology

Testimonials, progress examples or results achieved by another person should not be interpreted as a guarantee that you will achieve the same outcome.

15. Clients and Members Under 18

The Angling Performance online training programme is available from age 16, while one-to-one coaching may be available from age 12, subject to suitability.

Members aged 16 or 17 should have the permission of a parent or legal guardian before joining and participating in the online programme.

For one-to-one coaching involving a client under 18, appropriate parent or legal guardian involvement and consent will be required before coaching begins.

Additional safeguards may apply to health screening, body measurements, photographs, video, remote coaching and in-person coaching involving younger one-to-one clients.

16. Personal Responsibility

Participation in exercise requires active personal responsibility.

You should follow reasonable instructions, communicate concerns and avoid undertaking activities that you know or reasonably believe are unsuitable for you.

One-to-one coaching clients must also provide accurate and relevant health information as part of the assessment and coaching process.

You should never disregard professional medical advice because of something you have read, watched or been told through general Angling Performance content.

17. Limitation of Liability

Nothing in this disclaimer excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.

Angling Performance cannot accept responsibility for injury or loss resulting from deliberately disregarding reasonable safety instructions, exercising contrary to medical advice, using unsafe equipment or knowingly training in an unsafe environment, except to the extent that responsibility cannot legally be excluded.

For personalised one-to-one coaching, this also includes circumstances where relevant health information has deliberately been withheld from Angling Performance.

Nothing in this disclaimer affects your statutory rights.

18. Related Terms and Policies

This disclaimer should be read alongside the terms applicable to the particular Angling Performance service you use, including where relevant:
